TAMPA, Fla. (December 6, 2018) – Tampa Bay Businesses for Culture & the Arts (TBBCA) is proud to continue to financially support arts education and announces The 2018 Charlie Hounchell Art Stars Scholarships Program Call for Applicants is now open.

This cornerstone TBBCA program in support of arts education and young artists and performers, is named in honor of TBBCA Past President, the late Charlie Hounchell, who was the program’s founder and champion. Each year, TBBCA awards six or more competitive talent and merit based fine and performing arts scholarships of $2500 each in Theatre, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Dance, Literary Arts, and Visual Arts, to Tampa Bay area high school juniors and seniors, helping them to fund their higher education in the arts. Since 2008, TBBCA has awarded over $155,000, providing financial assistance for higher education tuition to more than 60 Tampa Bay area students who are some of the most promising and talented young artists and performers in the nation.
